For the first time in 65 Years the Irish Open is coming to Royal Portrush on June 28th. The Event, last held at Royal Portrush in 1947 is set to run from 28th June – 1st July is attracting a crowd from all over the world, including a Hollywood Legend.
Bill Murray (Ghostbusters, Lost in Translation, Kingpin) is set to play at the Event, alongside his brother Joel Murray (Man Men, Dharma & Greg, Shameless) and a few other celebs, Aidan Quinn (Desperately Seeking Susan), Ronan Keating (Westlife) & David Humphreys (Ulster Rugby) are just a few of the big names involved in the tournament,
The decision to have the Championship return was inspired by the success in recent years of Northern Ireland golfers Darren Clarke, Rory McIlroy & Graeme McDowell. It is expected to bring a large crowds and provide an economic boost for the Causeway Coast Area.
Portrush and several businesses in the town have recently invested in “face lifts” for the event, with Coleraine Borough Council, The Northern Ireland Tourist Board and The Department for Social Development spending £2,000,000 on the Station Square Environmental Improvement Scheme
